Life continues to move. Lots of “seeds” I planted last season are sprouting.
I was accepted to the Loyola mental health counseling program in New Orleans and I will be starting classes this fall.
I’m looking forward to studying the inner world in a more formal way. And at the same time I’m growing increasingly wary about the way Western psychology has developed.
The human psyche is like a pyramid, with “mind” as the very top portion—the vast majority of what makes us healthy, or unwell, lies below the surface in the heart, gut, and body.
The more I explore spiritual practices and traditions, the more I realize that they cover vast amounts of our inner world which mind-based investigation has trouble understanding, much less shifting.
Though I also feel hopeful that the field of psychology is widening its horizons, evolving, and embracing new ways of understanding human health and wellbeing that are more holistic in their understanding of what we truly are—an understanding that goes far beyond the individual ego.
I hope to learn what the field of psychology has to offer and see what I might have to offer psychology in return.
Sliding Scale Sessions
I’ve had a big influx of new clients last month, and I’m grateful and excited about working with a host of new people.
In the spirit of helping as many people as possible, last month I began a new sliding-scale system for working with people of different income levels and means.
If you know anyone who could benefit from 1:1 transformational work, please send them my way and we will find a way to make it financially affordable.
Videos
I’ve continued to put out videos on my YouTube channel — slowly trying to find a “voice” that feels right and a visual style that I can get excited about.
You’ll find three recent videos below.
This one is my most popular to date:
Have a wonderful April.
Warmly,
